Harnas Wildlife Refuge

Harnas, the Afrikaans’ word for Safe Protection, is a wildlife refuge located in Namibia. Founded by Marieta van der Merwe, it offers a home for African wildlife who have no place to live due to loss of natural habitat.  My book, God is a Lion, explores in depth and rich detail how Harnas operates on a day to day basis to preserve lions, cheetahs, leopards, baboons, wild dogs, caracals, and other animals from certain death. Loss of natural habitat is the primary reason so many African animals are becoming extinct.  Contact Harnas through their website – www.harnas.org.

All photographs by Laura Ann Walton.  Additional photos in God is a Lion.
